Aug, 2005 - Jon Mattox breaking in BRIGHT ORANGE STUDIOS...
pics by Melissa Berkeley
These shots were taken during the first week after moving into the new studio. This was prior to the final sound conditioning treatments on the walls, shelving, and other detail work that had yet to be done.
Here's why...
My friends The Green Natives heard that I was building a studio, and asked to book some studio time. We were nearing the completion of the studio, so I asked my contractor "A client wants to come in and record in three weeks... Do you think we'll be done by then?". He said "oh yeah, we'll be done way before then!". So I book the session, and sure enough, at 9pm the night before the session was happening, we were literally sweeping the floors clean, and getting rid of all the constuction junk. I called my friend Matt Forger to come help me set up all the gear, mics, and drums. So at 2 in the morning (before the morning session!) we were getting drum sounds, and I was amazed at the quality of the drum sounds coming out of the live room. Thanks for the save MATT!
By the way, the session went great that morning!
