Bright Orange Studios has become synonynous with Jon Mattox, and is where he does most of his recording, composing, and producing. Mattox is an experienced and versatile drummer, and plays a wide range of styles. Listen to some of his session drumming here, and for a list of album credits, visit his discography.
He also is a songwriter and a composer for film/tv which further enhances his musical sensibilites. On the technical side of things, Mattox is an experienced engineer, Pro Tools editor, programmer, and does mixing and producing as well which makes getting to the art of recording music that much easier.
Bright Orange Studios has recorded a huge variety of artists, bands, and musicians including The Young Dubliners, Lee Sklar, Roy Z, Doug Pettibone, Reggie McBride, Shane Fontayne, Marjorie Fair, Jay Bellerose, Azar Lawrence, and many others. Many of the artists that have recorded at Bright Orange have signed to his independent record label bright orange records.
The live room is acoustically balanced, and was designed to capture great drum tones as well as other acoustic instruments, and vocals too. Speaking of drum tones, there are lots of vintage drums here, plenty of snares, and lots of percussion too. Matt Forger (Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson) is a familiar face at Bright Orange, and he and Mattox do quite a lot of work together. Matt is a world class producer and mix engineer, and frequently they track at Bright Orange Studios, and mix at Matt's studio called Anisound. David Cambay is also a familiar face, and he does marvelous engineering and Pro Tools editing.
The studio features a floated live room (a room within a room), an iso booth, and a control room. The vibe is friendly & warm, and the gear is top notch. For rates and additional
